Full Restoration
Greek dual-mark (acute + macron) or non-Greek canonical — Norse þ/ð, Sanskrit ś/Ś, Egyptian ꜥ/ḫ, Japanese ō. The highest orthography the language allows.
Partial Restoration
Greek names with only one mark — acute-only, macron-only, or circumflex-only. Still authentic scholarly orthography; the standard convention in LSJ and Oxford.
The Source
Ancient Greek used pitch accent — rising and falling tones — and distinguished long from short vowels. Our tier system maps these features to Unicode restoration depth.
